The sample was quite challenging to get - don't try it alone, especially with a puppy! Once that adventure was over, the results came back very quickly. The results are very easy to read and there is no confusion. There are tests with more breeds out there, but this one worked for us. Who knew, our little guy is a pure breed!

We recentely adopted a pup from Tennessee. She was listed on [...] as a Bernese Mountain Dog. She really looked like one. But she isnt at all. Shes mostly Saint Bernard and many other dogs. We got the test done to see what kind of health issues that we might have to deal with. Also what kind of personality we might have to contend with. That and it was kinda cool to get to know what she was. Amazon sent out the test quickly. It was easy to do. We put her in her kennel to keep her away from our other dogs and her food and water for an hour. We put on some gloves (I know how dorky)swabbed those pretty cheeks, and returned the swabs to the test strip package. Filled in the info and shipped it back out. It took 15 days total to get our results back. I see a little bit of most of the dogs listed. Its a fun and helpful tool. Worth what we paid.
So if you want to know what your pup is go for it.

Well, this is interesting.... Got the results back yesterday. First off, let me describe my dog. Not sure exactly what he is, I rescued him from the side of a highway 4 1/2 years ago. He weighs 16 lbs., combination of both wired and smooth reddish hair, deep chested, short squatty legs,long body, long nose. So..... I know he is at least half Dachshund. It's the rest I'm not sure about and was hoping this test would tell me. He has a terrier look about him as well, and a definite terrier personality ( I'm used to the terrier mentality, I've had other terriers in my life! ). So...what I really expected was to find out he had something like Parson Jack Russell terrier, or maybe Yorkie, something like that. Heck, I could even see him having something like Chihuahua, Pom, etc. mixed in there somewhere too. BUT... what I got was this. They got the main part right.... Said he is level 4 Dachshund. So that's something like 50-75% of his make up. Totally right on so far. But after that is what made me laugh out loud!... Next was English Setter, Dalmation, Gold Retriever, and Pekingnese! Huh?!? Did I mention he is only 16 lbs at 5 years old? Uh....sorry. Gotta say I am a bit dissapointed in the results I received! I'm thinking they might still have a few bugs to work out of this test.

I have a mutt and now I know what she is. She had 2 level 3 and 4 level 4 matches. Some of the breeds don't look like her at all. She looks almost exactly like one of the breeds shown on her results as level 3. No one really knows what a dog will look like when mixed with several breeds. I certainly am no expert, but it was fun and definitely worth the price! I am very happy with it and received my results in just over 2 weeks.

We're pretty sure our mutt is a Chihuahua / Mini Dachshund, but Mini Dachshund was not on their list. We assumed she would identify as Dachshund instead, but I guess the miniatures have very different DNA, as she came up as a very very weird mix. I can see the Mini Pinscher maybe, but not Bichon Frise, Basenji, Collie (she's only 9 pounds!) Airedale Terrier, or Schnauzer.
They were very fast with their results though. When the test goes on sale again we're going to try with our Mini Dachshund, since we know for a fact he's almost pure.

We're just going to try again with our mutt (who looks exactly like all Chiweenies) when the DNA tests get more exact.
