Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Little Book that helps investors avoid big losses in an economic downturn

In the wake of falling stock and real estate prices, the American economy is poised for a decade-long bear market, so says Peter Schiff. After he accurately predicted the current market turmoil, savvy investors should pay attention--and start protecting their assets now, before the markets take their toll. The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets shows investors how to stay safe and stay liquid during economic downturns.

Using economic history as a guide, Schiff looks at the bear markets that followed the bull markets of the 1920s and 1960s to predict what the American economy will look like after it corrects for the tech and real estate bubbles of the 1990s and early 2000s. Combining financial, economic, and political perspectives, Schiff looks at what worked in those earlier bear markets and predicts what strategies are most likely to work over the next ten years. In the end, Schiff argues that the next decade will most closely resemble the 1970s, complete with inflation, rising interest rates, and soaring commodity prices. This reversal of trends will make past investment strategies obsolete and pose a challenge for investors trying to build and protect their wealth. Smart investing will always pay off; the key lies in using the best strategies for the market at hand. For investors who see the writing on the wall but don't know what to do about it, The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets offers a timely, critical answer.

5 out of 5 stars A must read   November 23, 2008
This book will scare your pants off. It may also save your pocket book. Read it quick.

5 out of 5 stars Quickly, Cling to your Guns and Religion!   November 23, 2008
[Alternative titles to my book review]

Chicken Little writes Little Book (or)

United States Economy Implodes Permanently Degrading Standard of Living and Quality of Life of Everybody You Know And Send Christmas Cards To and All I Got was this Lousy Tee Shirt (or)

Hey Buddy, Thanks a $Million (But in 2008 dollars that's only 25 cents)!

So my wife woke up this morning and told me about her dream, "We were at the movie theater, and we ordered: popcorn, chicken strips, a hot dog, and two drinks; and it costs $340. I thought that was a lot of money, but we were hungry, so I paid it." Then I involuntarily spit out my mouthwash and laughed. The funny part is that she hasn't read Peter Schiff's book yet. The sad part is that some dreams might come true.

When I read The Little Book That Beats The Market (Joel Greenblatt), I learned how to assemble a stock portfolio using a long-term winning formula. Now Schiff's book's title suggests that I will learn some great investor kung-fu moves to counteract a crummy market (when I finally do get a portfolio). Nope. No point in reading any of the other Little Books, because the little people like me are in for some big hurt.
That dream of getting rich by reading those other Little Books evaporated with reality's intrusion as presented in Bull Moves in Bear Markets. As we've heard in the movie Aliens, "Game over man, game over." At least, I'll know what hit me.

There aren't that many shopping days left until Armageddon, so read Schiff's Little Book. Then you too can go to the 99Cents Store and buy 12 bottles of hydrogen peroxide like we did.

5 out of 5 stars An antidote to delusions..   November 22, 2008
Peter's book(s) is/are a must read for these simple reasons..

a. discusses most important metrics that are used to measure productivity, prosperity, wealth (in a contrary fashion) in a way novices like myself can understand and learn to question them in our investment decisions

b. provides practical advice that lines up with his arguments

c. assumes risk by stating positions and offering advice, this is perhaps the most admirable thing. Peter is sticking is head out to unveil some of the delusions we have been under... that somehow we can have something for nothing.. i.e. get into debt and somehow renege on it with impunity.

Wait till Peter's prediction about the next bubble in US bonds to burst... you are going to appreciate him even more.

5 out of 5 stars Very Relevant!   November 19, 2008
I know Peter is a bit of a bear, but this book is very relevant to what is happening now in our economy.

4 out of 5 stars Misleading title..Sequel to Crash Proof   November 18, 2008
3 out of 4 found this review helpful

The book has a title that has nothing to do with the content of the book. The publishers wanted to add to their list yet another book in the 'little book of ..' Series. But, Having a wrong title is not a sin.

Based on the title, you expected a thriller movie but you end up watching a romantic movie. You still enjoy if the movie is good.

The book has 13 chapters, and can be split into 2 sections.

CHAPTERS 6-13 :ACTUAL ACTIONABLE action Item ...The reason why everyone should read this book.It explains the favorite nations (Ex:australia),emerging nations, frugal consumer, emigration which is trickle now, torrent in future, hopes of emerging as a great 'emerging market' etc.I can paraphrase what he has said, add couple of quotes, but the crystal clear convincing arguments is best said by the master himself...Peter Schiff!

CHAPTERS 1-6 : The first 6 chapters are about history, facts, I said so's etc. Those chapters are boring and I think author tried to build his case to lead to chapter 6 onwards, but ended up making me (and probably you) sleepy!

If you have not read his first book Crash Proof, please read it immediately. That one is a must read. Just like most sequels to master pieces, The 'little book' is another mediocre one relative to the first book. The 4 star is because of the very important and relevant content

Some sample snippets of what you can expect in this book:

> If gold prices pan out the way I believe they have to , the mining stocks, silver included will soon be in their own bull market . And in 5 to 10 years, look for a mania that makes the NASDAQ bubble seem like a warm up.
> I strongly prefer conservative, dividend paying foreign stocks to foreign bonds, because inflation prevails in all countries using fiat money and stocks offer inflation protection
>Bad times are coming for working Americans In the next few years, milions of people who believe they are secure in their jobs will be shocked to discover they are not.
> The United States will have no choice but to rebuild its manufacturing base, shore up its crumbling infrastructure and support those few industries where it remains a world leader
> I have been sounding a warning for years about the huge adjustment both US residents as individuals and US as a nation have to make when the seemingly endless supply of foreign credit dries up.

Full Disclosure: I am an europac client and read to his articles every week in financialsense, listen to his TV appearance from his website europac and basically sold to his views. To my best of belief, this review is unbiased.

Please read another financial gem, The Coming collapse of dollar that I have added in my listmania called perpetual classics and my review on it also.
